Prefers sunny, warm environments and is sensitive to frost and high temperatures; thrives in moist, fertile soil, tolerates fertilization but cannot withstand cold, and can self-seed. The optimal temperature for fruit development is 25-28°C. It is a short-day plant with moderate light requirements; insufficient light delays fruiting and reduces yield, while high temperatures, drought, and direct strong sunlight can cause sunburn or fruit drop. During the fruiting period, dry air is required, as excessive rain hampers pollination.
